Fanno House Restoration

The historic Augustus Fanno House, built in what would become Beaverton in 1859, was restored primarily through the efforts of Beaverton Sunrise Rotary Club. The club started the restoration effort in 1983 after the property was donated to the Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation District in 1982.

BEFORE--The historic Fanno House in Beaverton's Greeway Park near the Koll Business Center, is shown above prior to the major effort by Beaverton Sunrise Rotary members in the mid 1980s.
Working closely with the parks district, the club helped restore the outside of the old house so that in the end it looked like new again. The club members sanded, scraped, primed, painted, and replaced siding. They also worked with an architect and a local woodworker who made ballustrade for the porch to match the originals that had deteriorated in over a century of use. Finally, they worked with Highland Park School to have the pickets cut for a brand new white picket fence that now surrounds the property.

AFTER--The restored outside of the Fanno House is shown after the Rotary members completed the railiings and painting.
