History

FirstPresidentBeaverton Sunrise Rotary was chartered on June 11, 1982 as a new club sponsored by the Beaverton Rotary Club.  Twenty-six charter members attended the charter presentation at Mirika's Restaurant in Beaverton.  At the time it was chartered, the club's name was Progress Rotary Club since the club was to meet at The Stockpot Restaurant at Progress Downs Golf Course (now Redtail). 




First president of the club was Mark E. Gerton (shown at left with wife Leila receiving official honors from a Rotary District 5100 representative at the charter banquet).  Vice president was Joel B. Shaw.  Charles E. Lawrence was secretary, G. Ray Rankin was treasurer and Patrick E. Murphy was sergeant-at-arms.

Charter members attending the presentation were as follows:  Theodore B. Bare; Robert W. Breitenstein, Jr., D.C.; C. Roy Burnett; Richard D. Cartwright; Larry M. Cree; John G. Foster; Ian R. Garbutt; Jack E. Garrison; Mark E. Gerton; Donald R. Jarman; Rodney Kastelle; Richard W. Landon; Charles E. Lawrence; Jerry S. Maris; Patrick E. Murphy; Richard Oglesby; John F. Ormiston; G. Ray Rankin; Samuel R. Scott, Jr.; Donald E. Shick; Scott C. Sedlacek; Joel B. Shaw; Stephen G. Spiegal; Thomas N. Stearns; Jon M. Torrey; Robert V. Ward.

A twenty-seventh member, Brian F. O'Day, joined one week later at the first meeting.

Meeting Logistics:

Day:  Tuesday

Social Time:  5:15-5:30pm

Meeting Time:  5:30 - 6:30  (30 minutes Club Business, 30 minute program)

Location:  Shilo Inn

 

For Rotarians / Guests attending our meetings, we suggest you arrive 30 min prior to meeting start to order your meal/appetizers. 

For Rotarians who are doing a "Makeup" or anyone not ordering from the menue, there will be a $5 Fee.  

The meetings will start promptly at the indicated time but it will take time to process your food order. 

Payment for meals/food will be made directly to the Shilo Inn.
