Honduras Dental Clinic

Siakoulaya

Dental health among the La Mosquitia Indians of the rain forest in Honduras is much improved these days thanks to the efforts of Beaverton Sunrise Rotary Club members.  The club purchased a portable dental clinic that was transportable by river boat and sent it to the village of Siakaulaya, shown above.  The village is eight hours by fast riverboat from the nearest population center of any kind.

Honduras River

The Mosquitia Indians of the Honduran rainforest use the La Mosquitia River to travel their remote region.  The portable dental clinic sent by the Beaverton Sunrise Rotary Club has been utilized by teams of volunteer dentists from the United States who have made trips to the region to work on the teeth of the native people there.  The club shipped a donated compressor to Honduras for use in dental work there.
